Today's mood, exactly

Currently working on "Fallow Green" aka "Un terrain vert" trailer on my laptop and is feeling on a high. Editing has such meditative effects on me. Hands like robots while mind is wandering. I can observe my actions over the last weeks. Funny how moments of self-awareness arise.

Vadzaih

Vadzaih is the gwich'in name for caribou and I keep on dreaming of them. In Alaska their skulls are used as ornaments on log cabins' facades. That's what you see in Circle City. I've never been in this remote village. How come I miss it so much? Maybe I know this place from another lifetime.

A paper stone scissors game to decipher

This is a sketch I drew back in 2008 for the movie "Sourdough" and even though I am currently working on something different, I feel like sharing it tonite.

This sketch shows a variation of the paper stone scissors hand game based on the five elements and Taoist Cycle of Life. Fire beats Metal which beats Wood which beats Earth which beats Water which beats Fire and so on. I won't tell you what hand sign belongs to which element because it's some kind of secret. This special hand game is used by some characters of the movie in order to communicate covertly.

Why so grim?

New York based animation artist Jeff Hong has created this tongue-in-cheek illustrations for a reason that is quite unclear to me. We all know the end is near but aren't Disney movies already depressing enough? Just kidding. I love his work.
