As I updated my profile and list of favorite films yesterday, I bumped into this picture on the web.Say hello to "Apu the King", lead character of Satyajit Ray's Pather Panchali, a movie I heart deeply.
I've been trying to come up with words to describe what I felt when I first watched it.
Some motion pictures just work in mysterious ways and lift you to very high levels of consciousness. I remember a friend telling me one day that most of us had dormant memories of humanity's glorious past, when we all were queens and kings regardless of our age or origins. Whatever that means, Pather Panchali definitely triggered off some weird nostalgic feeling of déjà vu in me...
